Dallas Citizens for Fairness
The Dallas Citizens for Fairness is a group comprised of community leaders, and the general citizenry. We are publicly announcing our outrage in regards to the unfair justice that we believe Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Hill are faced with here in Dallas, Texas. What has become very clear in recent days is that “true justice” was not forthcoming from the United States Department of Justice under the Bush Administration. The Dallas Morning News Editorial Page echoed many of our cries when the paper recently said:
“When former attorney general Alberto Gonzales left Washington one year ago in professional disgrace, his critics said that he allowed the Dept. of Justice to be wrecked by partisan politics. It has been widely reported that, “senior aides to former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales broke the Civil Services laws by using politics to guide their hiring decisions, picking less-qualified applicants for important nonpolitical positions, slowing the hiring process at critical times and damaging the department’s credibility. Within recent months, a prominent movie director produced a documentary on this very subject. The video can be viewed @ www.politicalprosecutions.org.
With the gathering storm of “injustice” having swept over the Bush Justice Department, we believe citizens in this should pause before making any further judgments of those city officials still facing trial on public corruption charges. Though wrongdoing is never limited to just Republican or Democrats, nor just blacks or whites, the evidence is building that some of the defendants charged in these cases may have been the victims of “partisan political profiling”. The ongoing investigation of the United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary stated in its Majority Staff Report entitled“ Allegations of Selective Prosecution in Our Federal Criminal Justice System, dated April 17, 2008, that an extraordinary degree of politicization within the Department of Justice
